Sneaks – Adobe Rome
This year Adobe showed off a very complete looking sneak that took most people by surprise, “Adobe Rome”. This very ambitious project written in 20k (orignally I typed 200k, typo, thank you Jon for that find) lines of code works on both the web and desktop via Adobe AIR and is written completely using the Flex framework. Previously many people in the community had criticized Adobe for delivering a lackluster photo-editing application with Photoshop Express, especially compared to some other competitors that were also using Adobe Flex to produce much more impressive online tools. However this application seems to blow the rest of the online photo-editing applications away.
However, if you see this as just a photo-editing application I am afraid you are only seeing half the picture. This amazing application is something of a mashup between Flash, Photoshop, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver.
Ultimately I am just blown away by the work that has been done, Greg Rewis just kept saying “and it also…”, because apparently Adobe threw in everything and the kitchen sink. Great job!

I saw this demonstrated yesterday. Are you sure it was written using the bloated and slow Flex framework?? I can’t see any benefit that Flex would bring. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used the same Pure ActionScript approach as I do.
Just going off what they said
And I’d be nice to your cousins the Flex developers, you’ll find they aren’t that different than you. Trust me, I do both.
What the hell is that trooper doing there? Not even funny.
They were having a laugh by having the sneaks be star wars theme. Even Mark H. (Luke Skywalker) was out. It was pretty funny overall.
